My Teaching
Philosophy
When reflecting on
what kind of teacher I would like be, I think of being that teacher who has set
rules and expectations in the classroom but also a teacher who is loving and
compassionate with their students. I want to be the teacher that is evenly
proportioned with being stern yet compassionate. I think it is very important
for students to have a teacher who is like that because it gives the students a
sense of structure yet also gives them that friendly environment that they
need. I want to be that teacher that students feel like they are safe and
can tell me anything. I think it is so important to create a safe environment
in the classroom where students can thrive and feel important. If my students
take anything away from my classroom I hope that they would at least take away
that it was a safe loving environment and that I genuinely care about each and
every one of them.
Why I want to be a Teacher
I want to become a teacher to help students succeed to their full
potential, especially the students who are struggling in the classroom. As a
student all throughout grade school I struggled with my schooling, especially
math. I had teachers who put in minimal effort and did not make a change in my
life. As I went throughout middle school and high school it became clear to me
that I did not know math very well. It wasn’t until college where I became
proficient in math and finally understood the concepts because I had dedicated
professors along with an amazing tutor who made sure I could succeed. I want to
be the teacher that makes a difference in those struggling students lives, so
they can succeed and be pushed to do better. I feel like if I had teachers in
elementary school that put in the effort a little bit more that my story might
have turned out differently. However, that struggle that I faced growing up has
made me who I am today and has been a factor on why I want to be a teacher.
